A Chef in Budapest Built a Yellowstone-Inspired FCX18 II F-100 — Delivered in 4 Days

In short: Andy Varszegi is a chef based in Budapest, Hungary, and a longtime Yellowstone fan. He wanted to build a crawler inspired by the world of the show — so when the FMS FCX18 II Ford F-100 released, he ordered one. It arrived at his door in 4 days. The F-100 is his newest FMS project; his previous build was a weathered Chevrolet K10.

Yellowstone First, Crawler Second

"This project has been in my head for a long time," Andy writes.
He is a huge Yellowstone fan — and what he wanted wasn't really another crawler. It was a build that belonged to that world.
"I'm a huge Yellowstone fan, so I've always wanted to build something inspired by that world."
That's a different starting point from most RC purchases. He wasn't shopping for a truck. He was shopping for a canvas.

Before the F-100, There Was a K10

Andy isn't new to scale builds. His previous project was a Chevrolet K10 finished in a weathered, rusty style — and he entered it in the #FMSOnTheMap challenge, representing his city.
"Let me introduce my newly completed rusty Chevrolet K10 by FMS. I've put a lot of passion and attention to detail into this build, and I'm very happy with how it turned out."
So when he says the F-100 build is "about to begin," it isn't a first attempt — it's the follow-up to a finished one.

Four Days from Order to Doorstep

The FCX18 II F-100 reached Budapest four days after he ordered it.
"Thanks to FMS, the new FCX18 II Ford F-100 arrived at my door in just 4 days!"
For anyone ordering from outside the US, that's the number worth remembering. It also explains why his post reads less like a review and more like a countdown — he was waiting on the truck, not deciding on it.

The Build Begins

"The project is finally about to begin… Let's build this one!"
At the time of writing, the F-100 is out of the box and the build is starting. More photos and progress from Andy as the project comes together.

What This Means If You're Planning a Build

  • A reference makes the build easier to plan. Andy didn't start from "which crawler should I buy" — he started from a world he wanted to build into. If you already have a truck, a place, or a show in mind, that's your build brief.
  • The body is the part you shape. The FCX18 II F-100 uses a magnetically swappable body — you can change the shell without tools. That's what makes it a practical base for themed, weathered, and replica builds.
  • You don't need a finished build to start one. Andy's own path ran from one completed K10 to a brand-new project. The first build teaches you what the second one needs.

FAQ

How fast does FMS ship to Europe?
One owner in Budapest, Hungary received his FCX18 II F-100 four days after ordering. Delivery times vary by destination and carrier — check current estimates at checkout.

What is the FMS FCX18 II Ford F-100?
It's a 1/18-scale RC crawler modeled on the Ford F-100 pickup, with a magnetically swappable body — you can change the shell without tools. For Andy, it's the base for a Yellowstone-inspired build.

What do adults actually do with a crawler?
Most FMS owners describe the hobby as four things at once. Replica building: recreating a real vehicle or a world they love — one owner in Budapest started a Yellowstone-inspired F-100 build; another is matching his late dad's old pickup, down to the trailer. Craft and detail work: painting, weathering, and swapping bodies — the FCX18 II's magnetically swappable shell makes that part tool-free. Mechanical tinkering: upgrading wheels, tires, and axles, with parts from FMS's own Batrazzi line and third-party makers like Injora and LGRP. Sharing it: running trails with kids or a local group — for many, the run is the reward at the end of the build.
