Key Features of the FMS FCX18 II
Fully Licensed Ford F-100 Hard Body
The FCX18 II features a detailed Ford F-100 hard body with:
- Ford grille and badges
- Chrome-style bumpers
- Pickup bed and roll cage
- Side mirrors and door handles
- Detailed interior
- Integrated LED lighting
Factory color options shown in the video include blue and white, red, and cerulean.
Magnetic Body Mounting
The FCX18 II uses a magnetic body mounting system.
Magnets secure the body to the chassis, while magnetic electrical contacts power the body-mounted LEDs. This allows the body to be removed without disconnecting lighting wires.
Youtuber Observation: Rob tests the magnetic mounting system and demonstrates its strength and quick body removal.
Redesigned FCX18 Chassis
The FCX18 II features a redesigned chassis with:
- Straight axles
- Low-center-of-gravity layout
- Forward-positioned motor
- Revised skid plate
- Updated suspension geometry
- Improved wire routing
The platform also retains the two-speed transmission.
Adjustable Oil-Filled Shocks
The truck uses metal-bodied oil-filled shocks with threaded preload collars and multiple mounting positions.
This allows adjustment of suspension preload, ride height, and shock positioning.
Youtuber Observation: Rob highlights the thicker shocks and adjustable suspension during the chassis inspection.
Metal Gearbox and Thicker Driveshafts
The FCX18 II includes a full metal gearbox and thicker front and rear driveshafts.
The drivetrain also includes:
- 180 brushed motor
- Four-wheel drive
- Two-speed transmission
- Straight axles
- Locked differentials
2S LiPo Battery and Updated Electronics
The FCX18 II comes with a 7.4V 900mAh 2S LiPo battery and an updated ESC/receiver system.
The chassis uses organized wire routing and a revised battery strap. A covered power switch is also included.
LED Lighting
The Ford F-100 features functional:
- Headlights
- Taillights
- Roof lights
- Turn signals
The lighting functions can be controlled from the transmitter.
How Does the FCX18 II Perform on the Trail?
In the rob driving test, the FCX18 II is driven over rocks, roots, uneven terrain, and a rock-crawling course.
Youtuber Observation: The video highlights slow-speed control, suspension articulation, tire grip, steering response, and the additional speed available in second gear.
One important observation from the test is ground clearance. The straight axles and low chassis can cause the truck to contact obstacles on highly technical terrain.
This is a rob driving observation, not an official FMS performance rating.
