Description

Conquer Any Terrain with Ease

In the late stages of World War II, influenced by the Morgenthau Plan, Germany was required to divest its military industry and German engineers turned their focus to designing agricultural machinery. Albert Friedrich, former head of aircraft engine design at Daimler-Benz, was one of those engineers. His idea began with a simple sketch, resulting in a machine with full-time four-wheel drive, equipped with differential locks, portal axles, and the ability to power external devices. The Unimog 421 series was widely used in agriculture, forestry, firefighting, and other sectors.

FMS RC Rock Crawlers: The Official Collection & Buyer's Guide

Welcome to FMS Hobby, your home for the most capable and realistic RC Rock Crawlers.
This hobby isn't about speed; it's about the deep satisfaction of technical skill and precision. We build highly detailed, officially licensed replicas engineered for serious terrain. These are robust platforms designed to grow with your skills.
Ready to conquer the rocks?

Your First FMS Crawler: A Guide to Scale and Capability

Stepping into the crawling hobby can seem complex, but we make it simple. We offer Ready-to-Run (RTR) excellence in three core scales, ensuring there is a perfect match for where and how you want to drive.

Understanding "Ready-to-Run" (RTR)

You will frequently see the term "RTR," which is the best starting point for beginners. RTR means Ready-to-Run.

  •  Factory-Assembled: Your vehicle is expertly built and tested by our team.
  •  Electronics Included: The motor, speed control (ESC), receiver, and radio transmitter are pre-installed and configured.
  •  Instant Action: Simply charge the battery, install AA batteries in the transmitter, and you are ready to drive in minutes. An FMS RTR rig eliminates the hassle of building, giving you confidence that everything works perfectly right out of the box.

Choosing Your Scale: 1:10 vs. Micro Crawlers

The size, or scale, of your crawler dictates its optimal environment and the type of adventure you'll have.

1:10 Scale RC Car: The Ultimate All-Terrain Trail King

This is the most popular and versatile scale, perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. Our 1/10 FCX10 series is designed for maximum capability and stability on real-world obstacles.

  •  Best For: Outdoor adventures, hiking trails, rock gardens, and tackling large obstacles like thick roots or steep embankments.
  •  Why It Excels: They offer the best ground clearance, weight, and stability to handle rugged, uneven natural terrain. They are the closest simulation of full-size off-roading.

1:24 Scale RC Crawler: The Portable Micro-Challenge

The 1/24 scale, such as our FCX24 series, offers maximum convenience and creative possibilities.

  •  Best For: Indoor crawling, desk courses, and micro-challenges. Small size means books, blankets, and furniture become technical obstacles.
  •  Why It Excels: It is the most portable option, fitting easily into a backpack. Small rocks suddenly become massive challenges, giving you an epic experience anywhere.

1:18 Scale: The Perfect Balance

Our 1/18 FCX18 series occupies the middle ground. It is larger and more powerful than a 1/24, making it capable outdoors, yet it remains small enough for a complex backyard course or a large indoor space.

  •  Best For: Those who want a true "go-anywhere" rig—big enough for trails, compact enough for your garage or basement.

Your High-Performance Fleet: The FMS "RTR-Plus" Advantage

At FMS, we engineer our Ready-to-Run models to be "RTR-Plus." This means that while they arrive ready to drive, they are already equipped with advanced, enthusiast-grade features that often cost extra or require complex installation from other brands. This commitment to quality is why FMS is considered one of the best choices for RC cars among discerning hobbyists.
When you purchase an FMS crawler, you are investing in a platform built to perform now and ready for upgrades as your skills develop. Look for these core FMS advantages:

  •  Portal Axles: Found on models like the FCX24 Unimog 421, FCX18 K10,FCX18 Hummer EV and FCX10 K5 Blazer RS. This feature raises the axle centerline, dramatically increasing ground clearance and reducing torque twist for unmatched climbing capability.
  •  Two-Speed Transmission: Shift on the fly from low gear (for maximum crawling torque) to high gear (for faster trail runs), giving you ultimate control that matches the terrain.
  •  DIG Functionality: Available on advanced models like the FCX10 K5 Blazer RS, this allows you to lock the rear axle for ultra-tight pivot turns.

New Owner's Guide: Your First Crawl

You have unboxed your FMS rig. Now what? Here is a quick checklist for a successful and safe first run.

  1. Read the Manual: This is the most important step! Your manual contains crucial information about your model's functions, battery charging, and maintenance.
  2. Transmitter Check: Your remote controller is your control center.
  •  Steering Wheel: Controls left and right direction.
  •  Throttle Trigger: Pull to accelerate forward; push for reverse/brake. Crawling requires smooth, slow input.
  •  Trim/Dials: Use the Steering Trim dial (ST. Trim) to make your truck drive straight when the wheel is centered.
  1. Charge the Battery Safely: Use the provided charger. Always charge your LiPo battery inside a fireproof LiPo safety bag and never leave it unattended.
  2. Start Small: Begin on a flat area to get a feel for the controls. Gradually move to small obstacles. This practice builds skill and reduces the risk of breakage.

Essential Maintenance: Protecting Your Investment

A little maintenance goes a long way in ensuring your crawler performs reliably for years.

LiPo Battery Safety (Mandatory)

  •  Charge Environment: Use a LiPo-compatible charger in a fireproof area, away from flammable materials.
  •  Storage Charge: Never store LiPo batteries fully charged or empty. Use your charger's "Storage Mode" to bring the cells to ~3.8V for storage. This prevents degradation.
  •  Inspect Regularly: Immediately and safely dispose of any battery that shows signs of swelling, puffing, or physical damage.

Post-Run Cleaning and Inspection

  1. Disconnect and Check: Remove the battery and inspect for loose hardware.
  2. Dry Debris: Use a soft brush or compressed air to remove loose dirt.
  3. Wet Clean (If Needed): Protect non-waterproof electronics. Use a mild detergent and a soft brush to scrub the chassis.
  4. Dry Thoroughly: Use compressed air to dry the vehicle, paying special attention to screws and bearings.
  5. Lubricate: Apply RC bearing oil or a water-displacing lubricant to all exposed metal parts to prevent rust.

FAQ: Your Crawling Questions Answered

Q1: Is a Brushed or Brushless Motor Better for Crawling?

A: For beginners, brushed motors are ideal. They are affordable, simple, and provide incredibly smooth low-speed control. Brushless motors are an upgrade, offering more power, efficiency, and less maintenance. For ultimate precision, a sensored brushless system is top-tier.

Q2: What is the benefit of Portal Axles on my FMS truck?
Q3: What is the "DIG" function on the FCX10 K5 Blazer?
