Description

The Piper PA-18 Super Cub is a two-seat, single-engine monoplane. It was developed from the Piper PA-11. In close to 40 years of production, over 9,000 were built. Super Cubs are commonly found in roles such as bush flying, banner towing and glider towing.
As a relative of the popular 1400mm J-3 Cub, the 1700mm PA-18 Super Cub retains great flight characteristics while offering increased power and wingspan.

Thanks to its functional flaps, high-lift airfoil, rugged landing gear and oversized balloon tires- the 1700mm PA-18 Super Cub has impressive short take-off and landing (STOL) performance, allowing it to operate from just about any terrain.

Utilizing the latest FMS hardware and design, the 1700mm PA-18 Super Cub has pre-installed ball-link type pushrods, integrated servo connectors in the wing structure and can be assembled very easily using no glue at all.

For pilots wanting to get the genuine bush-plane experience, the PA-18 Super Cub can be equipped with floats.

Versatile, fun and exceptionally relaxing to fly- the 1700mm PA-18 Super Cub is a great addition to any fleet!

Great Customer Service

Bought my son one of these from a former team pilot. He was flying it on his sixth flight after soloing on a 1220 Ranger. He put it in a tree a couple of weeks ago. We ordered a new plane. The box was destroyed. FMS sent a replacement and was very helpful.

GREAT AIRPLANE, ONCE CORRECTIONS ARE MADE!

This is an awesome airplane, once corrections are made that should have been made on the drafting table and production floor! The issues are as follows…

As some have mentioned in their reviews, I do not think the tires can be any harder. Due to their hardness, they lack grip on hard surface runways and do tend to slide a bit in a crosswind and during high speed turns. I am still trying to understand why the designers made this poor choice for tires for this airplane, especially after using much better tires on the 1300mm PA-18. I had to purchase different tires that were softer and more appropriately sized for this airplane. An additional monetary expense that should not be necessary for this correction.

And, right out of the box, the wires inside the battery/receiver/flight stabilizer compartment were an absolute mess. There is no reason for this. If only the designers would have used wiring harnesses that were properly sized for this airplane. I spent too much time on a problem that should have been taking care of before and/or during production. An additional expense of labor that should not be necessary!

FMS engineers need to address these issues and implement changes into the design, as there is no reason for producing a product with these design flaws.

Once these modifications were completed, the airplane has been a true joy and I highly recommend it. But, if you purchase the FMS PA-18 1700mm Super Cub for your ‘hangar’, expect to have to make modifications for these unprofessional and unnecessary issues right out of the box, if you desire a stellar airplane!

If not for the aforementioned design issues, I would have gladly given this airplane 5+ stars!

Great capable airframe

Great plane flies very good can be slow or fast when needed I get around 7 mins of flight time when I’m a little gentle with the throttle using a 2200 4s I have a friend who uses a 3200 4s and it can fly longer up to 10 mins.
